Dr. Mauro A. Rossi was born in Carrara, Italy, and has been proudly serving the Athens community for over 30 years. A seasoned and highly respected podiatrist, Dr. Rossi brings a deep commitment to patient care and community involvement to every aspect of his practice.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Emory University in 1986, where he was recognized in Who’s Who in American Colleges. He went on to receive his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1992, graduating with honors in the Durlacher National Podiatric Honor Society and again named to Who’s Who for Podiatry.
Dr. Rossi completed his surgical residency at Doxey-Hatch Medical Center and Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City from 1992 to 1995. Since then, he has remained dedicated to advancing podiatric care in Northeast Georgia.
He currently serves as Chief of Podiatry and is affiliated with the diabetic program at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. Dr. Rossi also spent 18 years working with the medical athletic staff at both Clarke Central High School and the University of Georgia, helping student-athletes stay healthy and active.
Dr. Rossi is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Diplomate of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is also a long-standing member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
A 12-time winner of the Athens Banner-Herald “Best Podiatrist” Reader’s Choice Award—including 2023, 2024, and 2025—Dr. Rossi is widely recognized for his dedication, experience, and trusted patient relationships.
Outside the office, Dr. Rossi enjoys spending time at the lake with his wife, Julie, and their son, Jacob. He is also an Eagle Scout, achieving that honor in 1994.
